As part of a major strategic review of use of space for an independent Academy, Nova Co-Design have been reworking spaces for art, textiles and food technology. To maximise the value to the school we have addressed the multi-use of space and it flexibility in adaption. The art space (illustrated) is reworked to provide use as an exhibition space, open studio for life classes and group working and installation. The objectives in the design of all spaces has been to provide more creative space for smaller sixth form study groups as an addition to parallel use within general timetabling. This approach has enabled the rapid development of the sixth form in both quantity and quality of provision. By taking an integrated consulting approach led by an education planner alongside 3D designers and technologists, Nova Co-Design have been able to broker co-location of learning groups to improve efficiency.
Our work has involved the bespoke design of furniture and partition elements alongside sourcing of loose furniture.
